Most Frequently Asked Questions

    Will it hurt?

Yes most tattoos hurt to some extent, the amount of discomfort felt depends on the individual and the part of the body being tattooed.

     Will I bleed?

It depends on the individual, some people do bleed to some extent, this is normal as the skin is punctured by the needle.

Should I eat before having a tattoo?

Yes, make sure you eat an hour or two before your appointment, this will avoid your blood sugar getting low.

Aftercare

The first few days and weeks are the most important for your new tattoo. Make sure you care for it properly!
Leave the tattoo covered for the first couple of hours, after this remove and clean with warm soapy water. The area will feel tender and warm for the first day or two, you may also experience some swelling but this will reduce after the initial couple of days.

Once you have cleaned the tattoo, dry the tattoo by dabbing the area with a clean towel. When dry lightly apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment, something along the lines of tattoo goo, savlon or bepanthen. This will help to avoid the tattoo drying out, then re-dress with a clean piece of clingfilm. For the first 48 hours keep the tattoo covered and clean four times a day. Tattoo's will sometimes ooze, this is a normal part of the healing process and is important to keep them clean to avoid any infections.

Repeat the cleaning process and apply the ointment for the next few days. After a few days you may notice some peeling and scabbing, this depends on the individual. At this point of the healing process your tattoo will begin to itch. RESIST any urge to SCRATCH, RUB or PICK at the tattoo.

Some more things to AVOID:
Stay out of the sun and refrain from using sunbeds until the tattoo is fully healed.
Going swimming for at least 1 week or soaking in a hot tub or bath.
Avoid dying hair for 1 week if the tattoo comes into contact with hair dye.
If the tattoo is on your wrist or lower arm avoid washing up for at least 2 days.

Once healed apply full factor sunblock to your tattoo whenever it is exposed to sunlight/sunbeads to protect the colour.

The tattoo should be fully healed within two weeks, if you have any concerns or queries please contact a member of staff.
